Would be nice if you could create a world map like you are creating terrain now, Paint brush and density: city, trees, roads, water, elevation, environment. At a very high level. A map like you would see in a published campaign. All the building footprints in the city would be objects that you could assign details to and name it(i.e. tavern). Name shows up on the map. Click on the name and boom, zoom in to playable building. Or if you need something on the fly, click a building, set details, create in a matter of seconds if the party decided to go someplace weird. Or if you creating a building as part of your story; import and assign your building to whatever random object building on the map. Would tie things together nicely.

Not sure how this would work with AI generation since I generally have a clear idea of how my town/city/continent/world map needs to look, but I am all for speeding up the map making process since I really dislike all the mapmakers currently out there for wasting my time too much. Will definitely spend the bucks needed to get this if it has this option.

I've used DA to create some pretty good topographic maps of landmasses, but with more/varied brushes and some town/city/port style assets this may be easily achievable.

I don't know why it is not more popular in the poll. I would literally be awesome. And complementary with the already great product.

Ok so at base it’s about 1m x 1m per grid square. If we want to do this it’s have to be from the top down. Earth’s surface area = 100’s of millions of square kilometers(510). So grid squares need to be like a million square kilometers. At this point it’s probably easier to just have a button for % of the planet that’s water, have those squares be required to be put in first, then move on. Continents are in the 10’s-1’s of millions of square miles so each grid square would need to be like 100 thousand square kilo. Nations/Empires/States are usually in the 1’s of millions - 100 thousands mark so their grid square should probably be in 10 thousand square Kilometers . It would carry on like that all the way down to villages.

An option when creating a new map to have the grid squares be each represent like a mile outdoors instead of 5ft indoors, and the scale of the landscape objects and features to reflecting that new scale.

I think this is similar to another suggestion, but not sure. This tool has great potential for Full City Maps. Basically create houses and shops of different types/sizes, hospitals, castle building, farms, ruins, etc... I am sort of doing this already, dog houses for "houses", Items as indicators for shops; but I think we can do more with this. Granted it's not a "dungeon" but who says a city can't be a dungeon for the escaping criminals running from the guards?

I have been digging around the net and found all world map making generators and builders to be lacking. I am sure you guys could corner the market very quickly.

While this is likely something that would be its own app - Having a tool to AI design and populate a city map would be absolutely amazing. i can draw world maps and dungeon maps in an hour or two - city maps take days or weeks. I would buy/support/fund that in a heartbeat!!

This seems like it could be a full post-release expansion, honestly. There's a lot of potential for the tool to be expanded into a "world map scale".

First Attempt. But I like it.

Be able to have a 'parent' map - maybe even just a top-down image - for a town or an area, with clickable icons/images that would link to another map. For example, a shop area, a tavern, guard tower, and residential houses could be in different parts of a city map, ready to be opened.
Could even incorporate generating a new linked map on the fly based on choosing terrain and/or shop/house/dungeon motif (once autogen dungeons are incorporated)

I want to be able to create a less detailed world map instead of the super detailed smaller maps. Or even have the details of the current map resized to be appropriate to the grid size

Update suggestion:
A. Allow AI to control NPCs to trade, farm or anything really (GPT?).
B. Organized Societies (Religions, Political Systems, Guilds, Families, basicly any social group)
C. Economy & Time simulation
D. Azgaar Fantasy Map Generator integration
E. work as a 3D renderer for FountryVTT, and take advantage of the rules provided by the community

I'd really appreciate a means of making a regional/continental/world map. "Realistic" or velum options would be fantastic :)

Having a Parent/child map feature would be very kewl. Much like how a Database has parent records with a unique id for the child records to be tied too. The same idea can be used here. The parent map creates a unique id and each child map would be tied to it. You can even have the unique id created on the child map as well and read the parent map id as a one-to-many relationship. To make a multi-layered dungeon map that smoothly moved from one map to the next. By using a small one-to-many or many-to-many database created when one does a multi-layered map. The default could be a single map.

a village/city generate will be very good, but i think before that the performance need to have a BIG increase.

At least integration of Azgaars World Map Generator and Watabo's City Generator

that would be awsome. though i think the city generator is missing a lot additional features to realy make the city look the way i want it to look ^^

Yeah, it's very complicated to adjust walls and important building placement, your only real option for that is to just keep generating new maps till one you like shows up.

K

Kim Risberg

Hello, i'm loving what you're doing with this Tool, something i'm having trouble finding anywhere, even with such programs and tools that do offer city and even world map creation, is a way to offer creation of underground cities.
i realise that city creation could be straining, but perhaps such could be achieved with the program creation modules or sections rather than the whole thing, since individual rooms seems fine, it'd be on a larger scale.
i would love to construct a dwarven hold with a tool like this, it would be an absolute delight.

R

323starlight

a World map generator would definitely help if you got the shape and environment placement figured out, just not the exact placement of mountains and forests and all that.

David D

Definitely want the feature to build towns and villages

A city builder would be awesome. Maybe select a couple of key features you want in the city: say palace, temple, market, arena, etc. and let the AI build the city around the key buildings you've selected. Would also be nice to have a slider for building density, depending on how "urban" you want your city to look.

Avatar

Here's how I'm picturing this would work, You would start with an ocean. You trace the shape of the land masses you want, once you have the shape down, you select where you want specific environments. Deserts, mountains, snowy tundras, forests, Once all that is done, you let the AI work and it fills in the gaps for you. As for cities and towns, you can outline borders of a country and plant where you want the capital and cities to go, AI can generate travel roads between them. Alternatively, you let the AI figure out the city and town placement for you.

How about a new map mode “regional” which allows for a 2d map only with terrain painter with hand drawn trees / town / road / coast to be able to create a map representing a region. Thinking of uses in D&D specifically
